McAfee Cloud AV

Many antivirus programs tend to slow a computer down, because of their constant activity and especially due to their updates. This is why more and more antiviruses are moving to the cloud. This way, they can offer the same protection, but with less strain on the computer. One of these antiviruses that made their way to the cloud is McAfee Cloud AV. It is capable of guarding a computer against incoming threats, while keeping its core components, including its virus signature database in the cloud.

The software is currently in an open beta stage, so you can try it out for yourself, free of charge and you can even send feedback. The setup package is small and it doesn't take long to download, but you will have to wait a few minutes to complete the installation process. Fortunately, running the setup file is all you have to do. The program will be installed according to recommended settings, without any user input.

Unlike the traditional McAfee antivirus program, McAfee Cloud AV comes with a compact user interface. It has a clean and efficient design, so you don't have to spend any time looking around menus crowded menus. An overview of the protection system is presented directly on the main window. It lets you know about the current state of the firewall, the real-time protection and other components.

Options for scanning, viewing a threat log and accessing the general settings menu can be found on the same window, beneath security status. Since the program is still in beta, at the time of writing this review, the scanning feature is not yet available. However, the program's real-time protection is fully operational.

Runnign McAfee Cloud AV on your computer is all you have to do for the moment. You can let its real-time protection block incoming threats, while working quietly in the background. If it detects a virus or malware threat, the program will let you decide how to handle the infected contents.
